The floodplain area of Záhorie represents a frequently flooded landscape shaped by river dynamics.

  • We are restoring wetland habitats by disabling drainage canals and reconnecting river meanders with the main channels of the Morava and Rudava rivers.
  • Along selected sections of the Morava River, we are removing stone bank reinforcements to restore the river’s natural dynamics.
  • On agricultural land, we are creating grasslands intended for grazing.
  • By removing non-native tree species, we are restoring the natural composition of unique pine–lichen forests.
